Purpleville Digital Marketing Accelerator programme; My First Week Experience Review.

The transformational journey into the digital marketing world began few days to the end of July. I must say it hasn’t been the smoothest of rides, but it has been highly intensive, educative, and explicit. We had a total of 7 incredible sessions in week one, and they were power-packed to the brim with value.

The facilitators are another feel-good factor of this training. They are resource persons that are well experienced in their chosen field of career. They all brought their A-game and shared their wealth of knowledge and experiences. It has been impressive so far.

Purpleville Digital did a highly commendable job for creating a platform where more than 20 youths are being set on the employability and empowerment path.

Day One of Week One
The first day of week one; 27th July, started on a good familiarity note for the participants. We got well acquainted with ourselves and the project team. We also got introduced to the general overview of the digital marketing course and the bulk of work in stock for us.

Day Two of Week One 
On 28th July, the future of work from the angle of technology and human resources was discussed by two facilitator. This is the most interesting session for me as I was not in any way familiar with the term “The Future of Work”. At the end of the session, I learnt that the world is transitioning from the old traditional way of working to an era marked by rapid advances in automation and artificial intelligence.

The emergence of technologies like big data, robots, and the likes is threatening the old system of working. Technological innovations are gradually replacing physical workforce. This is the future of work, and that future is now. One must understand what is coming to replace physical workforce, prepare for it and learn how to equip oneself with the relevant, in-demand skills for the future of work.

Day Three of Week One

The fundamentals of Digital Marketing was introduced on day 3 of week one. This class laid the foundational understanding of how to exploit different digital channels and understanding how each of them works to deliver better and integrated service experiences to businesses.

Also, on this day, I had a fantastic session on Digital Media Strategy and how it influences a business’s end goal. An excellent digital media strategy takes into consideration, social media audit for maximum optimization of businesses. Social Media Audit is an evaluation of social media pages that gives an insight on the marketing strategies that are working, failing or what can be improved upon.

Last Day of Week One

The last day was nothing short of awesomeness. We had an interactive class on how to conduct market research for existing and new businesses. It is highly recommended because it helps a product or service provider understand a buyer persona’s pain point and connect their brand value to that particular need.

The last class on emotional intelligence was also insightful and educative. To be successful in digital marketing, one must have the ability to recognize and effectively manage one’s emotions and other people’s emotions.

The first week was great, and I have learnt a lot of new things. I am affirmative that the next three weeks of learning would be better, and I am looking forward to it.
